Summer vacation is over, but that doesn’t mean that school can’t be FUN! September 9th, 2013
It’s that time of year again, classrooms filling with the buzz of what happened over the summer holidays, but the fun doesn’t have to end with summer. Teachers remember that the outdoor classroom at the Tourond Creek Discovery Center is open and waiting for your class. On October 10, 2013 there will be the grand-opening celebration at the TCDC officially introducing to the public as an outdoor classroom. (TCDC Grand-Opening Invitation)
Contact the SRRCD Office to RSVP to the event, or for bookings and too have your class added to the calendar tab.
If you are looking for an alternative option to the outdoor classroom, you can get involved with the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. The SRRCD is looking for teachers, students, and willing homeowners to organize and take part in cleaning up our shorelines in the local watersheds the week of September 23, 2013 until September 26, 2013.
The following are the links for the three locations chosen by the SRRCD:
In St Anne on the Seine River: http://www.shorelinecleanup.ca/en/og/use-code/433FB3-94714
On the Tourond Creek: http://www.shorelinecleanup.ca/en/og/use-code/2C4A15-93171
In Lorette on the Seine River: http://www.shorelinecleanup.ca/en/og/use-code/CF878B-93907
The dates, times, and locations are flexible, as we would like to pass the coordination of the event over to other individuals to take care of (if possible). If you are interested in more clean-up sites this could also be arranged, as the SRRCD does care for the Seine River, Rat River, Marsh River, Manning Canal, Tourond Creek, Fish Creek and Joubert Creek.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact the SRRCD Interim District Manager, Jodi Goerzen, via email (manager@srrcd.ca) or phone (204-424-5845 ext 1).
Have a great school year!
Karina 🙂
